Culinary Olympics promotion kicked off

A very unique and colourful cable car was presented as an "appetiser" for the 22nd IKA /Culinary Olympics 2008 in Erfurt

Erfurt/Frankfurt am Main. Erfurt in Germany is awaiting its guests for next year's 22nd IKA / Culinary Olympics. From October 18 to 22, 2008, the world's best chefs and pastry chefs will gather in Erfurt to show their expertise and know-how in culinary arts. The international four-day competition which takes place only every four years is considered the most important event in this field. And while the hosting German Chefs Association is looking forward to welcoming colleagues from more than 35 countries, an extraordinary city promotion was kicked off.

                                      beginning:  04.00 p.m., entrance 3.00 p.m.


Daily program October 19th to 22nd

It is the mixture of stage fever, last decisions, stress and tears, and happy winners that make the Culinary Olmypics so specail. It stays exciting up to the end. Allthouhg a high score in one categorie might bring a medal -  Olympic Champions are one the ones winning the highest score in all their categories. And this we will not know - and surely not tell - before the big award ceremony at Octobre 24th.



5.00 a.m.    Installation of the cold show platters
6.00 a.m.     Set up of the competions kitchens for the national teams
7.00 a.m.     start of competition for national teams
10.00 a.m.    fair opens for visitors
11.00 a.m.   panel „chief physicians and chefs" (except Wednesday, 22nd.)

12.00 noon  start of service in the restaurant of the nation 
12.00 noon  start of service in the military restaurant
12:30 p.m.    start of service in the restaurant of the junior national teams
12:30 p.m    the Restaurants for the communal feedign opens, self service

02.30 p.m.     daily award ceremony at the Restaurant of the nations
                    medals and diplomas
                    for the cold kitchen; national, junior and miltary teams
                    as well as regional teams and single exhibitors
06.00 p.m.      end of the competion day, fair closes

October 23rd - Great Award Ceremony

Beginning: 10.00 a.m. , entrance: 09.00 a.m.
