Erfurt/Frankfurt am Main. Erfurt in Germany is awaiting its guests for
next year's 22nd IKA / Culinary Olympics. From October 18 to 22, 2008,
the world's best chefs and pastry chefs will gather in Erfurt to show
their expertise and know-how in culinary arts. The international
four-day competition which takes place only every four years is
considered the most important event in this field. And while the
hosting German Chefs Association is looking forward to welcoming
colleagues from more than 35 countries, an extraordinary city promotion

The Verband der Köche Deutschlands e.V. (German Chefs' Association) and Messe Erfurt AG wish you a warm welcome to the IKA 2008 Culinary Olympics and to our website.
Once again, chefs from all over the world will meet and compete in a contest of culinary skills. They'll exhibit their works of art and, at the same time, "take a look at someone else's (i.e. their foreign colleague's) plate".
Exhibitions of culinary skills are an experience for all the senses and for everyone. It is an event for chefs eager to meet their colleagues living and working on the other side of the globe, and also for their friends who simply want to gather some first hand experience of what "cooking without borders" - outside the TV cooking shows with all their kitchen stars and starlets - really means.
On our website we will keep you updated on all the activities with regard to the IKA Culinary Olympics, reporting the latest news and providing you with a platform that will keep you company throughout the year on your way to Erfurt.
Program and Highlights
Every day you%u2019ll be able to watch the international competitions, experience fascinating culinary art and sample great culinary creations. An inspiring accompanying programme will offer entertainment for the entire family.
We can already provide you with a day-by-day itinerary of the National Culinary Teams and the competition programme. You will even be able to sample the results of these competitions in the respective competition restaurant.

Chefs and chief physicians demonstrate healthy nutrition
Healthy nutrion on the one side is an absulte top trend - on the other
many still thnik of it as boring food you eat, when you are sick . They
think of diabetis, adiposity or allergies. To say it short: Many people still think that healthy fod does not taste
quite good. And this is wrong. Even a diet that has to take core of allergies
or other sensitivities, provides any chance for real pleasure.
At the IKA some chefs of the German Chef%u2019s Association will produce
evidence for that. They support the lectures of well known chief physicians,
who will represent the scientific side of healthy recepies.
